Life At Protiviti

Championing Inclusion and Client-Centric Solutions

Cara Sylvers

Houston, U.S.

Cara Sylvers is a dedicated Associate Director with Protiviti’s Internal Audit and Financial Advisory practice in Houston. She has a passion for solving client problems through innovation solutions tailored to client needs. Besides her primary role, she serves as the founder and former president of Protiviti’s Black Employee Inclusion Network Group (BEING) for four years.

Cara's journey with BEING started from a heartfelt need for connection among Black employees following George Floyd’s tragic death in 2020. Recognising an opportunity to foster better support systems for Black employees across all offices, she initiated the formation of BEING, with full backing from Protiviti leadership. Cara has now passed the torch to a new BEING president and continues to serve in an advisory capacity.

"It’s important to foster an environment that reflects the different skills and innovative ideas across the global business economy."

Expanding Horizons with Strategic Collaborations

As another demonstration of Protiviti’s commitment to partnership and client engagement, Cara has taken the role of president for the Houston chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA). Protiviti has maintained a partnership with NABA for almost 20 years and has participated in their regional and national conferences. As president, Cara creates impactful programing that engages the local Houston community, including clients, companies, and nonprofit organisations.

With an eye on increasing client engagement, Cara prioritises collaborating with clients to achieve mutual diversity objectives by bringing professionals together for a common cause. For Black Heritage Month in 2024, Cara led a collaborative event with a panel of Protiviti and client professionals who shared their perspective on the importance of mentorship. Cara emphasises: “It’s important to foster an environment that reflects the different skills and innovative ideas across the global business economy.”

Striking a Balance between Inclusivity & Exclusivity

Cara ensures that BEING caters both to those seeking a safe space to share personal experiences and those wanting to learn more about diverse backgrounds at Protiviti. Her balanced approach contributes positively towards employee satisfaction and retention.

Cara Sylvers embodies the spirit of Life At Protiviti through her dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion, while maintaining keen focus on collaborating with clients to deliver innovative business solutions. By advocating change from within and facilitating important conversations around diversity and inclusion both internally and with clients, Cara strengthens community and enriches client relationships.
