Continuous Drive for Innovation

Aimee Bhakthavachalam

Manager, Houston

Aimee embodies Protiviti’s endless pursuit of innovation. Aimee has been recognised by The Institute of Internal Auditors as an Emerging Leader, she enrolled in Protiviti’s Python Hackathon with zero coding experience prompting a career shift to Audit Tech Enablement, and is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree. These are just a few examples of Aimee’s achievements, in her endless pursuit to deliver excellence for clients.

"After seeing Power BI used to present data during an internal webinar, Aimee devised an application to standardise and visualise her clients' various spreadsheets."

Designing Solutions to Optimise Client Data

When Aimee was a Senior Consultant in Protiviti’s Internal Audit and Financial Advisory practice, her role required her to communicate across multiple client departments, and doing so was challenging. After seeing Power BI used to present data during an internal webinar, she devised an application to standardise and visualise her clients' various spreadsheets.

She provided a quick sketch of her idea to her manager. Her manager shared it with a director who immediately approved its development and suggested enhancements. Aimee had to learn new technical skills quickly to deliver a viable solution.

Protiviti Champions Innovation

Aimee appreciates Protiviti’s genuine support of innovation. Knowing that innovation is important enough to have its own special charge code gives her the confidence to try new ideas and not be afraid to fail. Aimee also takes advantage of Protiviti’s online trainings to enhance her problem-solving skills and identify new business opportunities by looking beyond immediate client issues.

Continuing to Learn and Grow

In October 2023, Aimee decided to increase her problem-solving skills by signing up for a Protiviti Python Hackathon. She had no coding experience, but made the most of the resources offered. She then went on to win the Beginner to Advanced Individual category. A few weeks later, the Hackathon organiser offered Aimee a new internal opportunity based on her combination of internal audit knowledge and tech expertise. Today, Aimee has shifted her Protiviti career path from traditional internal audit to Internal Audit Tech Enablement.

By dedicating herself to continuous learning and delivering innovative, efficient, and effective solutions for her clients, Aimee’s story is a testament to Life At Protiviti.
