Elly is a director at Protiviti Australia and provides internal audit services to Federal and State government departments and agencies. Elly is known for her innovative problem-solving approach and for providing her clients with new approaches to their operational issues. Over 13 years, she has accumulated valuable experience that provides a sound understanding of the complexities, challenges and unique funding and regulatory environment in which her clients operate. 

She currently leads the delivery of outsourced and co-sourced internal audit and assurance services to several government departments and agencies across Victoria and the ACT, working directly with senior leadership and chief audit executives to deliver high-quality, risk based internal audit programs. 

Major projects and accomplishments

• Public Sector Internal Audit: Elly’s broader public sector experience includes the delivery of internal audit, risk and compliance work with a range of public sector departments and agencies. Key audits include public sector compliance reviews such as the PGPA Act, Standing Directions, fraud and integrity frameworks and risk management reviews, performance monitoring and reporting, grants management, project and program governance, data governance and many more.
• Core financial controls – Elly brings deep experience, having led internal audits across the finance functions at her clients, covering payroll, procurement, accounts payable, general ledger reconciliation, monitoring and reporting, cost recovery, performance, budgeting, and forecasting, operational planning and more. She also has significant experience auditing shared service arrangements from both the customer and service provider’s perspectives.
• Customer experience – Elly has led multiple reviews to define and map the customer journey for her clients. This includes identifying bottlenecks fundamentally affecting the customer experience. These engagements have supported the redefinition and reengineering of critical processes within her clients.
• Assurance mapping – Elly has delivered numerous assurance maps for her clients, using the organisational risk register to visually represent current assurance activity across the three lines. This exercise helps management identify gaps in assurance activity and risks that may be over-assured, indicating that resources could be reallocated.
