Ashraf Motiwala

Managing Director

Ashraf Motiwala is a Managing Director and the Digital Identity Practice Leader within Protiviti. Ashraf is an IAM industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the identity consulting and software sectors, and holds multiple patents related to cloud-based identity interfaces and architectures. Protiviti acquired Identropy in 2020, a firm he co-founded that specialized in advisory, implementation and managed services for identity and access management (IAM) and access governance solutions. Prior to Identropy, he co-founded an Identity-as-a-Service software firm (SCUID) which was acquired by CA Technologies in 2014. Prior, he held positions at the CRT Group, Stagebuilder.com, Firm Financial Systems and AIG. Ashraf earned a bachelor’s degree in information systems and philosophy from Stony Brook University and a Masters degree from Southern Methodist University.

  • Patent for graphical user interface for unified identity management across internal and shared computing applications
  • Patent for innovations relating to platforms’ Lifecycle’s User Interface, Recommendation Engine, and Proxy Architecture

Advisory Services Program

  • Launched one of the identity industry’s first advisory services program
  • Created the 7-step advisory process and framework for IAM infrastructures
  • Conducted numerous IAM advisory projects for customers and guided their IAM initiatives

Managed Identity Services Platform

  • Created the first cloud-based multi-tenant identity platform monitoring solution
  • The monitoring software was compatible with major IAM platforms
  • Provided automated analysis of environment stability, ticket management and recommended resolutions
