Will Thomas

Will is a Managing Director within Protiviti’s Cloud Solutions team and the Office Lead for the Winchester, VA software services location. Will leads the Professional Services unit with over twenty years of expertise managing cross-functional teams to deliver web-based solutions on an array of platforms including Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, SharePoint on-premises, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, Kentico and Sitecore.

Will has the proven ability to bridge technology and business goals to provide productive solutions and is an excellent communicator, with an emphasis on building strong client relationships. He has a well-rounded IT background of project life-cycle management with both Agile and waterfall methodologies.

Will is a quick learner who rapidly adapts to emerging technologies and is a progressive leader within Project Management Centers of Excellence to ensure effective project management methodologies, processes and tools are well-adopted across the practice and align the firm’s processes across all lines of business.

In addition to being a PMP, Will also holds Microsoft certifications in M365 and Azure, and is a graduate of the James Madison University with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in General Business.

Major Projects

• Engagement Lead for the cloud migration into a new Azure tenant for global professional services firm following the Cloud Adoption Framework to develop an Operating Model, Architectural Design, migration plan,  Azure DevOps for CI/CD automation from gold images, Terraform and Bicep Infrastructure as Code (IaC), pipeline deployments and migration of the on-premises servers into Microsoft Azure. This enabled the decommissioning of the datacenter and AWS footprint while working collaboratively with the client’s networking and support teams to ensure full knowledge transfer and documentation with security alignment to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 security controls.
• Cloud Lead and Program Manager for financial services client, delivering Cloud Strategy, Cloud Foundations document following Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for new Azure subscription’s hub and spoke designed landing zone including numerous application deployments.
• Microsoft 365 (M365) Strategy and Roadmap engagements with multiple clients across industries and solutions.
• Engagement Manager for multi-billion-dollar companies, delivering new Intranet collaboration portals including automated business process flows and responsive design implementations.
• Planned, coordinated and supervised the implementation of an association’s ecosystem consisting of eight public facing, integrated websites as well as launch of a Sitecore solution consisting of 3rd party solutions for cutting-edge search and commerce features, robust user experience and analytics with various integration points to disparate systems.
• Team Lead for the Intranet roadmap and phased implementation consisting of experience design, configuration and development of a top 10 non-profit organisation.
