Director

Martin is a Director with Protiviti and is an IT Auditor with over 25 years IT Audit and IT Consulting experience gained across various industry sectors. Prior to joining Protiviti, Martin was a Principal Advisor at KPMG, London, where he worked with a number of high-profile FTSE 100 institutions within Financial Services, Telecoms and New Media/startup sectors.

Martin has considerable IT governance, controls and change assurance experience and is a leader of Protiviti’s Change Assurance community globally. His change experience encompasses assuring portfolio management and complex programmes. He is familiar with traditional waterfall, as well as agile and DevOps ways of working and he is familiar advising on alternative control approaches when these are adopted. More widely, he specialises in working with clients to address high-profile, complex governance, controls and data challenges, often characterised by significant legacy systems, shared services, and sourcing complexity.

Major Projects

  • Complex Programme assurance – Martin regularly leads project assurance exercises and acts as an SME on others. These have spanned sectors and include complex, international IT and business transformation programmes, including outsourcing and regulatory considerations, as well as pre- and post-merger acquisition programme assurance. The scope of these reviews encompass both governance as well as deep dive design, testing and readiness reviews.
  • Various ERP implementation programmes – A range of Pre- and post-implementation control reviews for a number of ERP projects, addressing broad project, control and data migration risk areas.
  • Security Programme Assurance – Martin has led various assurance reviews over security improvement programmes across different sectors, both in terms of programme governance, as well as security scope and design elements and change management.
  • Project Portfolio Management – Martin has led several reviews of change framework and portfolio management practices and controls. These often focus on prioritisation, strategic alignment and benefits realisation. Martin has also led advisory work to improve project accounting and benefits tracking process elements, rolling out related training to PMOs for an international group for their IT change investment portfolio.
  • Internal Audit IT Lead – Martin leads our IT internal audit assurance work for an international Telco based in Sweden for a number of years now. He also led IT audit universe scoping and assurance planning for an international start-up Satellite service provider.
  • Revenue assurance and related SOX controls – Martin has led various reviews of Revenue assurance processes and controls for fixed line, mobile and satellite operators, including related SOX control design reviews.
  • External Audit IT lead – Martin was global IT Audit lead for an international Telco headquartered in the UK for a number of years.
  • IT due diligence – Martin has led various due diligence assignments in the Technology/ Software/ Telecoms/ New Media sectors over several years, which included assessing various technology and software platforms, both from a controls and commercial/ operational perspective.
