She hit the mark when she joined Protiviti's Managed Security Services & Security Operations. "I take great pleasure in working one-on-one with clients, focusing on helping them excel. It’s rewarding to understand their challenges, collaborate on their needs, and then develop strategies that help them achieve their goals." Developing a Depth and Breadth of ExperienceIn her time at Protiviti, Kenisha has had opportunities to support governance, risk, compliance, and security operations projects for clients from Financial Services to the Energy and Utilities industries. Each project has enabled her to expand her leadership while deepening her expertise in cybersecurity.Strengthening Clients’ Security"I take great pleasure in working one-on-one with clients, focusing on helping them excel. It’s rewarding to understand their challenges, collaborate on their needs, and then develop strategies that help them achieve their goals,” explains Kenisha. One such goal of an organisation in the blockchain/cryptocurrency industry was to strengthen its security posture. Working closely with the Chief Information Security Office (CISO), Kenisha enhanced and managed the company’s security operations function and supported a company-wide roadshow to promote security awareness and gain employee buy-in. At the same time, she developed comprehensive process documentation for security operations.Breaking Barriers and Building BridgesWhile passionate about cybersecurity, Kenisha realised early in her career that her advancement hinged on proactive networking and transparent communication with leadership about her ambitions. She found there was a barrier, however: overcoming feelings of isolation as one of the few women in cybersecurity. Kenisha boldly addressed this challenge by fostering a supportive network dubbed “Women in Cyber.”Kenisha reached out to fellow female cybersecurity professionals across different offices, resulting in the creation of virtual meetups where members exchanged knowledge, shared experiences, and provided mutual support. The connections were so meaningful that they soon lead to in-person connections, new project opportunities, and enduring relationships even when members became Protiviti Alumni.“Women in Cyber” eventually became part of GET IT, an employee network group aimed at advocating for gender diversity in technology careers. Today, Kenisha continues to advise colleagues on career advancement within technology sectors.A Platform for AdvocacyKenisha credits Protiviti for providing a space where she can exercise her voice – paving the way for personal success while catalysing change within the organisation.
