Erin Gavin Director Erin is a Director in Protiviti’s Financial Services practice focusing in Risk and Compliance as an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crime subject matter expert (SME). She has worked primarily with financial institutions, payment service providers and law firms on global, regional and local engagements where she has leveraged her experience of AML and Financial Crime regulatory requirements across the UK, EU, APAC and US. Erin has experience in various Regulatory Risk and Compliance Assurance, Internal Audit, and Remediation engagements and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Major Projects AML Audit – Global audit lead for an AML/FinCrime review at a money transfer fintech covering Know Your Customer (KYC) / Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Screening, Transaction Monitoring, Investigations and SAR filing, Law Enforcement requests, Governance and Training. Led design and operating effectiveness testing approach for scoping and fieldwork to review and assess processes, risks and controls to provide reporting on assurance of controls operating as intended as well as any gaps identified which require further enhancement or design. Compliance Assurance Programme (KYC, TM, Investigations, Sanctions) – Led a team to perform AML Compliance Assurance reviews across EMEA for a top tier US financial institution in the areas of KYC, Transaction Monitoring (TM), AML Investigations, Money Service Businesses (MSBs) and Sanctions. Developed testing plans, performed interviews and qualitative/quantitative testing and reported results with root-cause analysis on control/process deficiencies and key findings. Financial Crime Compliance Assurance Programme Development and Deployment – Designed and implemented a Financial Crime Assurance function for the EMEA Head of Financial Crime at a Global Top 10 bank. Designed the stakeholder communication plan and coordinated cross-function roles and metric / management reporting (MI) between the business, operations, compliance, audit teams and Board members. Developed the methodology, detailed procedures and supporting documents and templates to deliver a smooth transition from design to implementation to launch this new function for EMEA operations covering AML, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption and Tax Evasion. KYC Remediation - Led a remediation team of 100+ to remediate and data cleanse over 500K customer records at a global investment bank utilising SME and delivery centre resource model, tech accelerators, data analytics and robotics (RPA). Designed and mobilised remediation model and tech infrastructure for case management. Reported MI / status updates to senior stakeholders and regulators. KYC Standards and Implementation – Led a team to align regional policies into global standards prior to adoption of a new KYC utility tool across the Americas, EMEA and APAC at a global banking institution which required detailed analysis of global AML regulations. Syndicated versions with MLRO/Heads of Compliance and gained sign off from Business, Compliance and Tech/Ops. Issue Validation - Completed regulatory issue validation to meet Supervisory Letter requirements related to Financial Crime Compliance for a top 10 global investment bank. Verified remedial actions taken completely and adequately addressed the requirements of Matters Requiring Attention (MRA), Violation of Laws and Regulations, and Supervisory Letter.
