Are you ready for GIAS?

Are you ready for GIAS?

The New Global Internal Audit Standards™ (GIAS), published on January 9, 2024, will come into effect on January 9, 2025. These standards represent a significant evolution in the practice of internal auditing, incorporating essential content from the 2017 Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the mandatory guidance of the International Professional Practice Framework® (IPPF®).

What’s New in the 2024 GIAS?

The 2024 GIAS go beyond previous iterations by including:

  • Incorporation of 2017 Implementation Guides: Now part of the standards as ‘Considerations for Implementation’ and ‘Examples of Evidence of Conformance’.
  • Unified Framework: These elements are no longer separate, making it easier for organisations to align their internal audit practices with global standards.

Understanding the Challenge

GIAS introduces new standards and heightened expectations in areas like governance, risk management, ethics, and audit execution. The complexity of these changes can place significant strain on your internal resources, making it difficult to achieve full compliance without specialised expertise.
